Frustrated with the state of sidewalks in the Bellevue Neighborhood, in 2000 WIN leaders from Covenant Baptist UCC supported by other Ward 8 leaders planned a community walk through with local elected officials. During the walk, WIN leaders identified problem sidewalks, alleyways and crosswalks and got commitments to have them fixed. As a result of this campaign WIN leaders secured a cross walk on the busy intersection at South Capitol Street, wheelchair access points along the sidewalks and new alleyways throughout Bellevue.
