WHAT WE DO
WIN brings together congregations and community organizations across every ward of Washington, DC. We build lasting power by uniting people across race, faith, income, and neighborhood to take action together.

WE TRAIN LEADERS
We develop hundreds of DC residents each year to become effective leaders. Through house meetings, research, and action campaigns, WIN leaders learn to organize their communities and hold decision-makers accountable.
WE WIN CHANGE
For nearly three decades, WIN has won concrete improvements for DC families—from affordable housing and improved public safety to youth programs and economic justice. We partner with and pressure government and corporate leaders to deliver real results.

OUR TRACK RECORD
Since 1996, WIN’s organizing has won concrete victories that benefit low and middle-income families across DC.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING
WIN leaders have driven the creation of over 2,800 affordable housing units and secured funding for thousands more—including advocating for the first Housing Production Trust Fund and $450 million in affordable housing investments in the last year alone.
CLIMATE & HEALTHY HOUSING
WIN helped to pass the Healthy Homes Act allowing 30,000 homeowners to electrify their homes at no cost and has secured over $25 million for home repairs and electrification—merging climate action with housing affordability while lowering utility bills and improving air quality.
JOBS AND ECONOMIC EQUITY
Campaigns with partners like Pepco, DC Water, and public transit systems have resulted in wage increases and better benefits for thousands of workers. WIN negotiated with PEPCO, who committed $36 million to support Black- and minority-owned businesses in under-resourced communities.
PUBLIC SAFETY
WIN has pushed for increased funding for community-based violence prevention programs that prioritize public health approaches to safety. Our current campaigns continue to focus on improving the physical, social, political, and economic health of low and middle-income families.
